Hello!

Howdy!

My name’s Matt Bissett & I’ve been busy developing for the past 7 years (having worked with WordPress for 6 of those years). I started my freelance career on the WordPress Jobs board back in 2015, and I’ve been busy with work like:

I joined Inbound Now in April of 2016, starting out as a part-time UI developer (eventually becoming an asset developer); during my time there, I completed projects such as:

  • Building an animated landing page template (I wrote a tutorial about it, by the way).
  • Creating a series of Call To Action templates (e.g. Responsive Coupon 1, Spirit of Transifex, Spirit of Audible).
  • Improving existing features & extensions (e.g. the MailChimp extension, statistic displays, our dashboard lead widget).
  • Creating new features & extensions (e.g. the Contact Form 7 extension, a double opt-in system, tracking comments & user site searches).

While working at Inbound Now, I became very good friends with the owner, Hudson Atwell. Thanks to his putting in a good word for me, I was accepted into Codeable in April of 2017. One of my solo projects was my work for heavybit.com, which involved:

  • Extending the video pages’ transcript based, seeking functionality to the podcast player.
  • Changing the default podcast player into a video.js audio player with a playback rate changer and styling to look like the original player.
  • Adding a “Collapse/Expand” button to the videos.
  • Adding mobile features to both players and fixing iOS bugs.
  • Adding new subscribe buttons and minor CSS fixes.

I’ve also collaborated with Hudson on various Codeable projects. The way we’d typically work together is that:

  • He would find a suitable job, then communicate & build rapport with the client.
  • We would discuss the technical details of how the project might be done.
  • And, if the project was confirmed, I would do the primary development work while he’d keep in contact with the client.

Here are a few reviews from my Codeable clients:

I came to Matt with a custom WordPress e-commerce website that another developer had made into a complete disaster. My site had been set up wrong in so many ways, I almost thought it was a lost cause.

However, Matt has successfully fixed every problem my site has experienced and he has also added some special functionality. Thanks to his development skills, my site is wonderfully improved and working exactly the way it should.

Matt is extremely knowledgeable, responsive, reliable, patient, and above all, very professional. He takes time to explain technical issues and answer questions. Also, if I come up with an idea for my site, he always finds a way to make it happen. I would heartily recommend Matt for any project.

To summarize my time at Codeable, David Papandreas Chief Happiness Officer at Codeable had this to say:

David Papandreas Chief Happiness Officer at Codeable“Matt Bissett has been a tremendous asset to the Codeable expert community. He embodies all of the qualities we look for in freelance WordPress developers, including professionalism, honesty, responsiveness, and high quality solutions delivered to clients. Matt is a brilliant developer and I would trust him working on my own sites knowing he’ll get the job done with excellence.”

In August of 2017, Hudson & I went into business together & began work on TweetBoost, with myself being assigned as the lead developer. TweetBoost is a plugin that allows site admins to create schedules of tweets to advertise their blog posts at times of their choosing.

Back in February of this year, I was interviewed by the people at TechCompanyNews about TweetBoost. You can find my interview here: http://techcompanynews.com/tweetboostpro-helps-wordpress-site-admins-better-advertise-blog-posts-on-twitter-by-createing-a-series-of-tweets/

Finally, here are some words from Hudson himself:

Hudson Atwell owner and operator of InboundNow and Co Owner of TweetBoostPro“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mr. Bissett on various WordPress builds and customer service related projects over the last three years. He is super kind. Super professional. He has steady wit and an excellent work ethic. Matt’s also the kind of guy who keeps his correspondence clean and truth driven. And that’s the kind of people I like. I’ve found myself proud of his work many times over and in this world of contractors and agents, I’m very grateful to have made his acquaintance. There’s not been a client that I’ve met who has not praised his productivity or pleasant manners. You keep people like that close…”
